The Department of Geography, one of the newest departments of the college started its journey with B.A General Course in 2014 due to the growing interest in studying geography among the students in the locality. At present, the department follows the semester system (CBCS) as well as NEP (2020) under the curriculum of The University of Burdwan. The department has tried to provide a conducive learning environment as well as a quality teaching to the students. It places a strong emphasis on fieldwork and field observation to provide the information needed to address everyday geographic issues. The department has a well equipped laboratory containing sophisticated instruments and software. These instruments are used for recording weather data, testing soil characteristics and surveying. Students’ interest in learning geography grows as a result of their easy access to useful tools and equipment. In addition to traditional methods of teaching, modern teaching-learning methods are employed to enhance students’ academic, professional, social, and mental well-being.

The Department of Geography strives to achieve Geo-literacy by inculcating the knowledge of the dynamic Earth among the students.
