Preface
RTI is one of the most important acts which empowers ordinary citizens to question the working of the government and its related institutions. This has been widely used by citizens and media to uncover corruption, progress in government work, expenses-related information, etc.
Objectives
The basic objective of the Right to Information Act is to empower the citizens, promote transparency and accountability in the working of the Public Authorities, contain corruption and make our democracy work for the people in real sense.
Who Can Apply
A citizen who desires to obtain any information under the Act should make an application to the Public Information Officer of the concerned public authority in writing in English or Hindi or in the official language of the area in which the application is made.
